상품설명
The monument and its history: Bellver Castle is on the Balearic Isles, in Spain. It is situated on the outskirts of Palma de Mallorca, in the Bellver forest, which is one of the city's life-giving green spaces. It was built at the orders of the King of Mallorca, Jaime II. The master of works was Pon Descoll. The fortress was the setting for armed conflicts during the occupation of the Kingdom of Mallorca by Pedro the Ceremonious in 1343, and during the Germanic Wars in 1521; it was later used as a political and military prison. It has a very original circular ground plan, with three circular towers and that of the Keep, circular and separate. The bailey is very large and has a double gallery of semicircular arches on the ground floor and pointed arches on the first floor. Among the interior rooms features the chapel dedicated to Saint Mark. The castle is closed by a courtyard which leads to two floors with columns. The city's History Museum occupies five rooms of the ground floor, with pieces that mainly come from archaeological digs and also from the collection of Cardinal Despuig. Also on show are pieces of ceramics, tombstones and coins from the Roman era.
