The POE-8-48v60w provides power on the spare data wires (Mode B) of the Cat5, Cast5e or Cat6 Ethernet cable. Passive "always on" power means that all devices will receive the same voltage (48v). The included power supply provides 60 watts total available power for all devices combined.
