Innovating Science Acid Rain, Weathering, and Erosion kit is used to examine the weathering and erosion effects of acidic rain on rock materials and metals, both naturally occurring and those commonly used in construction. The kit has activities that expose materials and metals to acidic conditions and normal rain (tap water) for comparison of reactions, with materials for 15 groups of students for hands-on learning, including rock and metal samples, sulfuric acid concentrate, and disposable measuring cups. The kit includes a teacher’s manual and student study guide copymasters for instructional use, and a material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures. The kit is suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision, and meets the requirements for Department of Transportation (DOT) small quantity exemption 173.4, and conforms to 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 173.4 for domestic highway or rail transport only.Science education products incorporate applied math and science principles into classroom and homeschool-based projects.
