Chances of this are higher if you: are age 60 or older; have had stomach ulcers or bleeding problems; take a blood-thinning (anticoagulant) or steroid drug; take other drugs containing prescription or nonprescription NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, or others); consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day while using this product; or take more of this product or take it for a longer time than directed. Avoid taking ibuprofen if you are taking aspirin to prevent stroke or heart attack. Ibuprofen can make aspirin less effective in protecting your heart and blood vessels. If you must use both medications, take the ibuprofen at least 8 hours before or 30 minutes after you take the aspirin (non-enteric coated form).
