His death last year prompted warm obituaries across the world s press. THE COLLECTION: A valuable cross-section of key cello works in distinguished performances. From Bach s cornerstone solo suites, to some lesser known Italian Sonatas, the two classic Brahms sonatas, and three concertos by Schumann, Dvorák, Lalo and Saint-Saëns. The accompanying booklet includes three separate elements an overview on Starker s contribution to recording, Starker s own notes on recording and the original album essays.
