What’s Himalayan Rock Salt Lamp Salt Lamp is made of natural Himalayan Crystal Salt, which is forged deep within the Earth over 250 million years at the foothills of the iconic Himalayan mountains, and contain over 84 natural minerals and trace elements including sodium, potassium, iron, manganese and many others. Quarried and crafted into various shapes and sizes. A hole is then drilled into the bottom center of the rock where a light bulb is inserted. When the rock is heated by the warmth of the bulb, the salt naturally emits negative ions which help purify the air in your home by binding with the positive ions of pollutants like dust, pollen, dander, cigarette smoke and other allergens. How does Venhoo Salt Lamp Work? Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it attracts water molecules from the surrounding air. Once attracted to the salt lamp, these microscopic compounds remain on the salt and not floating in the air where you can breathe them in. As Himalayan salt lamps slowly become saturated with water vapour they attract from the air around them, the heat, from the lamp inside or beneath, dries them, thus continuing the hygroscopic effect for as long as the light is on.
