Two Original Albums for the First Time on CD! French composer, arranger and conductor Franck Pourcel (1913-2000) is recognized worldwide as the inventor of lounge and easy listening music. A show-biz star, he has recorded over 200 LPs and more than 3000 songs with his inimitable touch and style. The most important French singers were eager to be accompanied by him: Yves Montand, Lucienne Boyer, Charles Aznavour, Gilbert Bécaud and Charles Trénet, among others. Several of Pourcels sidemen, including Michel Legrand, Raymond Lefèvre and Paul Mauriat, developed successful solo careers after playing in his orchestra. During the 50s, Pourcel went to Hollywood to make albums for Capitol Records dedicated to the American market. He recorded under the names: Franck Pourcel and the French Fiddlers, Franck Pourcel and His Parisian (or French) Strings, and The Rockin Strings Orchestra. Pourcel became the first European orchestra leader to sell more than one million records in the US, and his albums have been exported to 58 countries. Considered one of the three most important French exports, along with Brigitte Bardot and Air France, in 1975 he was asked by Air France to compose the anthem for the new supersonic Concorde. This release presents two classic Pourcel albums from his Capitol period: Rainy Night in Paris, and Honeymoon in Paris . Both LPs were recorded in Paris and released by Capitol for the American market. As a bonus, has been included another Parisian-themed track which appeared previously on the second volume of his classic series Amour, danse et violons: En Avril à Paris.
