Answer: Yes should work but as someone else posted may not have enough adjustment to make a clothesline taut, made more for wire. Would definitely work outside as I tested it by hanging in the open for a month with lots of rain and it didn't rust Question: What is the strength rating of this turnbuckle? Answer: Safety load - bearing:250lb Question: What is the extended length as compared to closed length? Just want to know length/amount of tightening Answer: 5.8" closed and 8.4" all the way open Question: How much weight do these support? Answer: I don't really know. I use them for tensioning the horizontal guy wires on my deer fencing. There they work well even when a black bear happens to go over it
