Immanuel Kant (1724 - 1804) was a German philosopher and is ranked as one of the central representatives of the Enlightenment period. His work The Critique of Pure Reason was published by Kant in 1781 and was one of the most influential writings in the field of epistemology. Kant’s thoughts had a lasting impact on the discourse within western philosophy. With the help of his groundbreaking publications, he defined new ways of thinking that focused on the human ego, God, reason and man’s responsibility for his actions. Gladenbeck’s bronze bust portrays a detailed image of the German philosopher and is placed on a discreet green marble base. The bronze figurine shows Immanuel Kant at a younger age. His distinctive nose and chin have been expertly recreated. The name of the philosopher is engraved on the front of the bronze bust, while the artist’s signature can be found on the back.
