The main difference of end grain cutting board from other types of wood cutting boards is that wood fibers dispose vertically and perpendicularly to the cutting surface of the board, and not parallel, as in average cutting boards. This feature keeps your knives sharp, provides long service life of your chopping block and makes it look beautiful. End-Grain Cutting Board protects your knives and don't dull them as other kind of chopping board with hard cutting surface. Such boards are great from the point of view of preserving the cutting edge - the knife cuts the wood fibers (without damaging them and the blade) the blade of the knife sort of spreads the fibers, and after work they restore their shape, leaving the board unscathed, and the knife sharp. All of our cutting boards are handcrafted by our experienced woodworkers. In the production of our cutting board we use only hardwood of the highest quality (ash-tree wood), special FDA-approved glue Titebond III (www.titebond.com) and food grade mineral oil. Caring rules: The main rule for wood cutting boards and especially for end grain cutting board is not to leave it in the water! Wash your butcher block in warm, soapy water, after that thoroughly rinse with clean water. Try to allow all surfaces of the chopping block to air dry equally. Wood chopping block should never be washed in the dishwasher. Occasionally lubricate both sides of the cutting board with food-safe mineral oil to close the pores of the wood and prevent it from drying up and cracking. Use a mixture of mineral oil and beeswax for a more stable and reliable coating twice a year.
