Natural high quality product! Cane is the generic term for the hard outer bark of the Rattan palm. Cane webbing mesh is pre-woven cane web made by machine from strands of chair cane and sold in cane webbing sheets. When the seat webbing has a groove around the edge, the seat is made of pre-woven “machine-made” cane web. A rattan spline is pressed and glued into the groove to hold the open cane webbing in place. Cane fabric may seem fragile but it can actually bear very heavy loads. Chair cane webbing is primarily used for re-seating stylish cane chairs, such as the classic Thonet chairs or the Marcel Breuer cesca chair.
