Yamato battleship was built during World War II, serving in the Japanese Imperial Navy. This is the first Yamato-type ship, which together with the twin Musashi were the largest battleships built in human history. The main idea of building such powerful warships was the arms race from the USA, which dominated the Pacific. The construction of Yamato began in 1937 and was commissioned on December 16, 1941, a week after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship was armed, among others, with nine monstrous guns with a caliber of 460 mm. Its total length is up to 263 meters, width 38. 9 mm, draft 11 meters and displacement of 65, 000 tons. It reached a maximum speed of 27 knots (50 km / h). Almost 2, 500 people served on the ship. It was sunk on April 7, 1945 by American torpedo planes and bombers. Battleship Yamato is the largest model of construction blocks released in the history of COBI. It was designed in a scale of 1: 300. It faithfully reproduces even the smallest details of its historical prototype. After assembling 2500 elements, the battleship's body is 90 cm (35. 4 ″) long and 19. 5 cm (7. 7 ”) cm high. It has many moving elements such as: on-board guns and anti-aircraft batteries, rotating artillery towers, rudder and propellers. The set includes a special display stand with a plate on which the ship's name is printed, and a unique brick imitating the Golden Orchid, i. e. the imperial symbol that adorned the ship's bow.
