The Light Infantry Arms infrared (IR) tagger version of the iconic Russian AKS-74U compact assault rifle. The LIA AKS-74U infrared tagger is built using CYMA full metal components, LSD Electronic’s generation 8.2 mainboard, and Light Infantry’s patent pending Inline Recoil System. Notable features include an integrated side rail, compact design, side folding stock, and beautiful real wood furniture. The AKS-74U is fitted with an LSD Electronics T3 infrared emitter, adjustable, adjustable metal sights and an authentic Soviet-era AK sling. History and Specifications The original Russian AKS-74U was a compact version of the AKS-74 assault rifle. Its development commenced in the mid 1970s. It was intended for airborne troops and special forces. It has similar design to the earlier AKMSU compact assault rifle, but is chambered for a 5.45×39 mm ammunition. The AKS-74U was adopted in 1979. This weapon was issued to paratroopers, vehicle and artillery crews, pilots and so on. This compact assault rifle was first used in combat by the paratroopers in 1982-1983 during the Soviet War in Afghanistan.
