Replace your barrel's bung and spigot with a Thousand Oaks Barrel Co., Bung and Spigot Set for 10 liter barrels. Included in this set is a packet of 3 storing tablets to clean and sanitize the barrel when not in use. Over time and with use, all bungs and spigots wear out. We suggest you replace these component parts each year to maximize the quality of your spirits and the life of your oak barrel. Our bungs and spigots are made from American white oak and hand crafted on a lathe to the same quality specifications as our barrels. Storing Tables are pre measured doses of sulfites formulated to inhibit the growth of wild yeast and microbes in the barrel. When storing or cleaning your barrel between uses, dissolve the tablets in hot water. Pour the mixture completely into the barrel and top off with additional water. Store on a cool damp conditions. Rinse three (3) times before filling the barrel with spirits. As most Thousand Oaks Barrels are actually Bourbon barrels, meaning they are made from new wood and not from a reclaimed barrel, you will not need to put storing tablets in the barrel prior to use. However, when the barrel is emptied, it is recommended to always clean the inside to ensure that air born bacteria does not enter the cask and damage your spirits. Whiskey barrels (used wood barrels) should be cleaned prior to each use or whenever emptied. Remember: Always keep spirits in the barrel or fill it with a water and storing tablet mixture.
