Pilot Model 590 Stereo Tuner Preamplifier

One Owner!!!

Up for sale is a Pilot Model 590 Stereo Tuner Preamplifier from Pilot 1078 Console.

As the photos show, this is in good condition for its age. The face plate has scratches, nicks and discoloration. This preamp works, but there is no signal when selecting the AM tuner. I checked the bottom of the chassis and found that one of the carbon resistors in the AM part was burnt. Since I couldn't find the exact value of the resistor, I temporarily connected it with a red wire for the next person. It is marked with an "X" in the photo. Therefore, it is sold "AS-IS" condition for parts or repair. This preamp was taken off the Pilot 1078 Console, so the faceplate is separated from the chassis. I temporarily attached the faceplate to a wooden plate attached to the bottom of the chassis. See the photo.

I tested tubes on my TV7B/U tube tester.

V1. 6BQ7A : GE, Minimum is 32/32.

Result : 40/49

V2/9. 6U8A : RCA, Minimum is 57/57.

Result : 120/118 ( V2 ), 98/85 ( V9 )

V3/4/8/10. 6BA6 : Pilot/Motorola, Minimum is 41.

Result : 82 ( V3, Pilot ), 76 ( V4, Pilot ),

70 ( V8, Pilot ), 82 ( V10, Motorola )

V5. 6BN6 : RCA, Minimum is 18/23.

Result : 22/35

V6. 6AU6 : Ratheon, Minimum is 58.

Result : 80

V12/15. 7025 : Pilot, Minimum is 32/32

Result : 20/24 ( V12 ), 31/44 ( V15 )

V13. 12AX7 : Pilot, Minimum is 32/32.

Result : 34/34

V14. 12AU7A : Pilot, Minimum is 56/56.

Result : 81/79

V16. EZ81/6CA4 : Motorola, Minimum is 40/40.

Result : 58/57
