Selling my virtually like new Celo Europa SLL / Colnago 60cm frameset I bought new back in the late 1970’s. Phenomenal criterium and road frame that I built up with all Campy Record components. Raced Cat I on it for a couple years before retiring it. Then sometime in the late 80’s or early 1990’s, I sent it to Marcel Calborn in California to be updated and repainted.

Celo Europa was a house brand of a Colnago importer “Marcel Calborn” and from what I’ve read online he may still have a shop there. I understand they were designed by Marcel and manufactured by Colnago in Italy. Also, read that Marcel was the first importer of Colnago's into the US. The attention to detail that Marcel exhibited on the update and repaint is quite remarkable - he even put yellow accent paint inside the little triangle of the front derailleur hanger bracket.

This Celo SLL frameset was completely stripped. Marcel had explained that he would “reset” the Columbus SLL tubing in his build jig for “realignment” to perfection. He also updated it to some very nice custom features.

Then he primed and applied several coats of Ferrari red paint (I believe it was Dupont Emron??). Then unbeknownst to me, Marcel included customizing the top tube with my name under the sealer, as well as also a gorgeous "1984 World Champion" decal. Unfortunately, my custom name cannot be removed so you’ll want to cover this, and I’ll include several cool stickers for this (see last 2 photos). I taped one of those stickers over my name to reference where it's on the top tube.

Here are some details:

Added four female threaded inserts for water bottles on the down and seat tubes
Added two aero flutes on top tube for running rear brake cables inside tube
Added front derailleur hanger on seat tube
Added pin on head tube for securing tire pump (yes, in the 1970s we carried spare tubulars and pump in longer road races and training rides!)
1984 World Champion decal with rainbow colors
Added 9 new decals
"Campagnolo Brev." fork and rear dropouta
Columbus SLL tubing
Bottom of BB has "C" cutout, as well a tiny "C" engraved
"Columbus" decal on down tube reads "ACCIAO SPECIALI" (Special Steel) and "TUBI RINFORZATI GARANTITI" (Guaranteed Reinforced Tubes)

13cm rear dropout spacing
60cm BB center to top of top tube
58.5cm BB center to center top tube
17cm head tube
42.5cm center BB to center rear dropout
21cm fork steerer tube length
BB measures 70mm across (Italian standard)
All black decal letter trimmed in yellow

There are a few small paint flecks from three house moves and storage over the years (see last photos). Would think they could be touched up with model airplane paint or nail polish.

This Celo SLL frameset would be a beautiful build for any lover ("Appassionato") of classic Italian vintage racing frames for bike shows, displays .... or to ride. Only what is seen in photos is included, and nothing else. I've included abundant photos so please review them closely and ask any questions before considering.
