Offered for auction is an exquisitely carved bust of the Crucified Christ. Not sure of the type of hardwood used, but my guess would be OAK. This piece dates back to the early 1900s, capturing (in the carving) the suffering and agony endured at the time of Jesus' crucifixion. Bust is mounted on a miniature wood-based platform. Bust, although attached to the base and stands without issue, can be tightened (if so desired). A beautiful piece that is rarely presented with such detail and emotion. One of the thorns is missing (see pictures). This, however, does NOT affect the integrity of the piece in any way.
Measures approximately 12"H X 4"D X 7"W. Base has dimensions 5.25" X 4".
Presented in very good condition (with wear commensurate with age).
