Hand Carved Painted Wooden Wall Cross, Folk Art Floral Reclaimed Wood, 12.5in

This vibrant wall cross is a beautifully expressive piece of folk art, hand-carved from recycled, well-aged wood and painted in bold, joyful colors.

The wood itself tells part of the story — worn from age and dotted with old worm holes, giving the piece unmistakable authenticity and texture. The floral motifs and scrolling forms suggest a Latin American / Mexican folk art influence, though no maker’s mark is present to confirm an exact origin.

A modern hanging hardware has been added to the reverse, allowing it to be displayed securely while preserving the integrity of the original carving.

Despite its substantial visual presence, the cross is surprisingly lightweight, making it easy to hang and ideal for gallery walls, devotional spaces, or folk art collections.

This was part of a large amount of items that came from a friend who moved across country and couldn't take everything with him.  He traveled extensively and I imagine this came from one of his trips, knowing his tastes.  I love it, but don't really have a place for it.
