Beautiful vintage musical box made by REUGE Switzerland circa 1970 and playing three operatic arias by VERDI. Offered in nice condition and very good working order. 

The reuge mechanism has 144 notes arranged over two combs which are pitched harmonically for the fullest and richest sound you will come across. Powered from a very large spring wound from under the case the box will play for well over twenty minutes before stopping. The music is activated by lifing the lid and when the lid is closed again the music will stop at the end of the current tune. At the back of the mechanism a tune indicator numbered 1,2,3 illustrates which tune is currently being performed whilst the tunecard or programme of tunes is pasted to the cabinets underside.

The Italian made cabinet is richly veneered in many choice woods and features floral inlay to all four sides with the lid a splash of roses. There are a few signs of wear to the case though over all it displays beautifully with its deeply polished finish. There is a key to lock the lid from the front of the cabinet whilst inside the cabinet the mechanism is protected by a perspex cover and on the right end there is a small compartment to store treasures!
