Hildegard Gunzel ANIKA Original wax over porcelain artist designed doll
This is an extremely rare and highly collectible doll by the world renowned doll - HILDEGARD GUNZEL
ANIKA is a reluctant sale as this stunning doll has been made to showcase the craftsmanship and her beauty deserves to be lovingly displayed, and I am sadly having to downsize due to family health issues.
This is a rare opportunity for a genuine collector to acquire a truly special doll.
She was made in 1995 in a limited edition of just 50 dolls worldwide - 25 for Europe /25 for USA
She is number 13 of 25 made for Europe. This is confirmed by her certificate of authenticity and inscribed to rear of torso - LE 13/25 Europe, 1995.
She is made from a wax poured over a porcelain face mould and limbs with a cloth body
Anika has pale blue glass blown crystal eyes, and has a wig of platinum blonde hair that is crowned by her original flower and genuine pearl garland.
(I have only seen one other Anika for sale at a considerably higher price, however, the headdress for that doll is not original!)
Anika is exquisitely dressed to the highest standards as is customary for all Hildegard Gunzel dolls of this calibre and special edition status.
She wears her original outfit that includes her white cotton dress with butterfly embossed motifs and cotton embroidered butterfly brooch. It has a shirred bodice, adorned with tiny genuine pearl buttons and is completed with cotton broderie anglaise undergarments. She was made barefooted.
She measures is 80 cm or 32 inches tall but has been made to pose in a number of seated positions, which I have tried to demonstrate in photos.
She is in excellent overall “collector pre-loved” condition and comes from an adult collectors non smoking home.
I pride myself as an honest seller -
She is 31 years old, so as you would expect from a doll of this age, there are some very light surface scratches to wax, with one flat patch to wax right leg where she has been displayed. The rear of her shoulder plate has some surface scratches and flat spots to wax - (see photos)
These wax blemishes can be rectified by specialist treatment to the wax with heat but personally I do not believe they in any way detract from her beauty, but price reflects these nevertheless.
More recent issues of Hildegard Gunzel wax over porcelain dolls retail at over £7000!
She comes with her original hang tag and certificate, plus photocopy.
She is carefully stored and packaged in her original box, which is foam padded to protect her. The box is huge and does show some wear and tear from storage.
Due to the size and weight of the box, I am offering free postage within the UK as I want to source the best shipping provider to deliver her safely, fully tracked and insured.
