Forged from basaltic lava harvested from the slopes of Mount Etna, Sicily's legendary volcano, the Homo Sapiens is unlike any other writing instrument in the world. The proprietary lava-resin material is warm to the touch, remarkably durable, naturally hygroscopic, and provides a writing experience that feels organic in the hand—more like a trusted companion than a delicate luxury object.
Inspired by the Bronze Age, the era that witnessed the birth of civilization, commerce, and written communication, the pen features natural bronze trim that develops a unique patina over time. Gently used and carefully maintained.
I am the original owner and purchased the pen new. It has been owned in a smoke-free home and treated as part of a carefully curated fountain pen collection.
The nib was professionally tuned and smoothed by a respected nib specialist from Appelboom in The Netherlands, resulting in an exceptionally pleasant writing experience.
The lava body remains beautiful, the bronze trim has developed the character expected of a Homo Sapiens, and the pen performs exactly as it should.
Included with the sale are the original Visconti presentation box, paperwork, and accompanying materials.
Additional Notes
Selling only because I discovered that my personal writing style strongly favors finer nibs. This is not a reflection of the pen itself—in fact, I consider the Homo Sapiens one of the most iconic modern fountain pens ever produced.
If Visconti offered me this exact pen with an Extra Fine nib tomorrow, it would never leave my collection.
The patented bronze recipe has commenced developing patina in my safe, I wouldnt dare remove it.
