Very Good!
This is a fully assembled and custom-lit Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat model.
Production started in February 2021 and was completed in September 2021.
It features advanced lighting and control systems using two Arduino boards (MEGA and NANO).
Key Features
- Remote-controlled playback of all 10 tracks from the Top Gun album (soundtrack CD included)
- LCD panel displays track names during playback
- Displays lyrics on the LCD panel during “Danger Zone” playback

Simulated launch sequence:
Cockpit lights → Engine start (with sound) → Lighting systems → Afterburner - Each engine uses 7 LEDs (ice blue center, red/orange outer)
- PWM-controlled random flickering creates realistic engine glow effects
- Engine lighting units are detailed using resin 3D printing (see photo #9)
The wear marks near the variable-sweep wing roots (photo #6) were intentionally created using a weathering compass (also listed separately).
The display base is custom-built to resemble an aircraft carrier flight deck.
Constructed using MDF board with Tamiya texture paint and finished in dark tones.
Tie-down points are resin 3D printed and embedded into the base.
Two nameplates are installed, allowing display orientation as shown in photos #1 and #2.
