ORIG PRE-WW2 US AAF TYPE A-2 FLIGHT JACKET BY AERO LEATHER, SZ 40, NAMED OFFICER

Please review all photos. Lining marked with original owner name and Army Officer serial number indicating he was commissioned in early 1930s, which matches leather name strip sewn to Left chest; A-2 jackets were in service during 1930s, so this could be a pre-WW2-made jacket. A 5" diameter circular patch below name strip was removed prior to my acquisition of this jacket, but I do not appreciate any contrast in leather color between inside and outside the circle of stitching holes, indicating that the patch may have been present for a relatively brief period and removed during jacket's service life. There is rectangular pattern of stitching holes L 1 1/4" x W 3/4" on the outer portion of each epaulet, evidence of prior officer rank insignia. Zipper by Talon functions normally. I do not find empty machine stitching holes at margin of knit cuffs and waistband, so these may be original. There is a small tear to bottom edge of waistband near Right fly attachment, and probably half dozen snag holes to inside and exterior waistband. Right cuff has few minor snags. Left cuff has two holes which penetrate inner and outer layers; I put a pencil through the larger ones, the other pair of holes is at the opposite portion of the cuff and smaller, not visible in photos.

Measured distance between armpits with jacket zipped up and laid flat: 21"

Length of back from base of collar to lower edge of leather (does not include waistband): 22"

Distance straight across upper back between shoulder seams where epaulets are sewn in: 16.5"
