Matched pair of vintage Electro-Voice 823 cast aluminum horns with EV 1823 compression drivers. Made in USA professional audio components widely used in PA systems, theater installations, and vintage hi-fi builds.
This is a mixed-condition set designed to appeal to both users and restorers:
• One EV 1823 driver is fully tested and working with strong, clear output
• One EV 1823 driver is open circuit and produces no output
The non-working unit has been opened and carefully inspected. The issue appears to be a broken lead at the diaphragm. The magnetic gap is clean, concentric, and free of debris, making this an excellent candidate for diaphragm replacement or repair.
Cosmetically, both horns and drivers show typical vintage wear including scratches, finish wear, and age-related patina. The heavy cast aluminum 823 horns are structurally solid with no major cracks observed.
These EV 1823 drivers are known for their serviceable phenolic diaphragms and are highly sought after for restoration projects, vintage PA systems, and custom horn speaker builds.
