Up for sale is a NOS tested matched pair = 2 pcs. Valvo Red Code Triple Mica Nickel Pin E283CC tubes manufactured by Siemens. Tube codes are 0194 with 50 in glass bottom and 4355 with 17 in glass bottom. Included are also 2 pcs. high quality gold pin 6,3V socket adaptors for using E283CC tubes in ECC83/12AX7 sockets.
E283CC - The best ECC83 / 12AX7 tube variant ever.
There are countless myths and meanings about what the ultimate version of the ECC83 / 12AX7 tube might be. Being a very well designed tube, the ECC83 was manufactured in numerous variants by numerous manufacturers with numerous type designations like E83CC, 6057, M8137, 7025, 5751, CV4004, 6681, CV492, 6C10, ECC808, ECC803S, 12AX7A, E283CC, 12AX7WA, just to name a few. But only a very few ECC83 types are able to keep their characteristics constantly stable during a time period of 10.000 hours. The Telefunken ECC803S is one of them. Some vintage Tesla E83CC tubes, which are very well made copies of the Telefunken ECC803S are also pretty good. But nothing beats the Siemens E283CC. It is by far the best ECC83 / 12AX7 tube ever made. The Siemens E283CC is a selected high-end special quality long life (10.000 h) frame grid tube as the Telefunken ECC803S also is, but the Siemens E283CC technically surpasses the Telefunken ECC803S not only with her triple mica construction and a screen grid between the systems, but also with more precise and absolutely reliable electrical performance. Over the years, I've tested many ECC83 / 12AX7 tubes and all their variants in my tube testers and audio systems. Some types like the 1950ties Hamburg-made Valvo ECC83 are really good. The Telefunken ECC803S and also their Tesla copies are also pretty good. But nothing beats the precision of a Siemens E283CC. Every time I use or test a E283CC, I am repeatedly amazed, how great and precise this tube sounds and works: Quick heat-up, rock-steady heater current already after circa 30 seconds, super low noise, no microphonics, and unbeatable precise, reliable and stable electrical performance. E283CC tubes were solely manufactured by Siemens. E283CC tubes with Valvo or Philips labels are rebranded Siemens tubes. Due to a different pinout and 6,3V heater, a socket adaptor is needed to put E283CC tubes in ECC83 / 12AX7 sockets. Siemens developed the E283CC already in the mid 1950ties in order to satisfy the growing demands for a special quality, sturdy, low noise and reliable ECC83 version for use in high precision audio, measuring, commercial and military equipment. The Telefunken ECC803S was constructed later in the mid 1960ties mainly due to demands from two renowned German commercial equipment manufacturers: Rohde & Schwarz and Wandel & Goltermann, who demanded a high quality ECC83 tube without the need to change their ECC83 socket schematics for using the E283CC. This happened mainly due to rationalisation reasons, which also steadily came up at equipment manufacturers in the mid 1960ties. The E283CC was also more expensive than the ECC803S due to her triple mica construction and her system separation screen which both are missing in the ECC803S.

Before plugging in adaptors and E283CC tubes, please check, if your system is working with 6,3V AC heater voltages. Almost every system does. If you are not sure, take out your ECC83 tubes and measure the AC voltage between Pin4 and Pin5 which must be 0V. Then measure the AC voltage between Pin4 and Pin9 which must be around 6,3V. Then measure the AC voltage between Pin5 and Pin9 which also must be around 6,3V. You can then plug in adaptors and E283CC tubes. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact me via Ebay.
