Vintage Aynsley Hand-Gilded Green Porcelain Tall Teapot Hot Water Pot

Authentic vintage fine English bone china tall teapot and matching lid with a locking retaining tab, manufactured by Aynsley China Ltd. in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Mid-20th century (likely 1940s-60s). High-shouldered, tapering conical body with a flared pedestal base, vibrant Kelly/Emerald green ground band and elaborate hand-gilded scrollwork. 

The color on this is very close to the Durham Green, and the gilding is almost identical to the Rutland Nile. Durham Green was discontinued about 1950 and Rutland Nile was made into the early 1960s. The backstamp is 1930s-1970s. The piece stands approximately 7 inches tall with the lid seated, measures 4.75 inches across the body, and holds a maximum fluid volume of about 700ml.

Condition

• Excellent structural condition with no chips, cracks, structural damage, or interior tea staining; appears to have been utilized primarily for cabinet display.
• Hand-applied gold decoration remains highly vibrant and intact overall. Under close scrutiny, the gilding on the spout displays slightly varying line thickness consistent with original factory manufacturing, showing no signs of abrasive over-cleaning or polishing.
• A small, superficial scuffed spot consisting of fine micro-scratches on the green enamel of the lid is documented in the listing photographs.
• Minor, era-expected manufacturing micro-imperfections are present within the glaze layer.
• Light shelf wear present along the unglazed footer ring of the base.
