This was from the estate of a local collector / Certified Marantz and McIntosh Service Technician. I have been slowly restoring and selling this enormous collection over the last year. Check my feedback, I have restored and sold about a dozen Marantz Power Amps like the Model 2, 8B and 5's plus many more vintage HI-FI pieces from this collection.
This came to me kinda mid repair.
The face was off and the Inner Dial glass was missing.
Someone had cut open the housing for the left hand indicator lights and a number of bulbs were missing.
RESTORATION WORK I DID:
Meticulously Cleaned and polished interior and exterior.
Cleaned all pots and switches with CRC QD Cleaner, DeoxIT D5 and an air compressor.
Replaced blown Dial & Display bulbs with OEM style bulbs (not LED).
Tested Capacitors with a Peak Atlas ESR70, All read within range.
Tested function of all outputs, inputs, meters and dials. All features are functional as expected.
I do not have an oscilloscope so I did not use the TP Ports or do any advanced testing of that sort.
Replaced Inner Dial Glass with New Old Stock piece from Tom at McIntosh Audio.
Glued the Indicator Housing back together. (See image with RED ARROW)
Replaced missing indicator bulbs and corresponding wiring all the way back to the sources. (See image with RED ARROW)
Added black rubber feet to the bottom of the case.
