This copy is clean and unmarked internally. No annotations. Sound binding, strong orange cloth boards with black spine lettering. Light wear consistent with age.

Laid into the volume are two pieces of period ephemera. One civil rights leaflet referencing an interfaith moral appeal to senators. One color postcard depicting General George Washington at Yorktown. Both appear contemporaneous to mid twentieth century circulation and were preserved inside the book.

Unlike the annotated Tarn paperback, this copy presents as a clean reading copy of Williams’ major modernist epic in an earlier hardcover state.
