Professional Tube Laboratory Test Report
Every tube listed in my shop undergoes a rigorous testing procedure to ensure the highest fidelity and performance for your equipment.
- Testing Equipment: Professional Kalibr L3-3 Tube Tester.
- Precision Measurement: Measurements are verified using a calibrated Metrix MX 51EX digital multimeter.
- Transparency: All results are provided in the product photos, displaying specific Anode Current (Ia) and Transconductance (S) values compared to manufacturer specifications.
For sale is a premium, vintage Philips DARIO Miniwatt 12AX7 / ECC83 dual triode tube (Internal Reference: TG3PKF). This specific unit features the iconic yellow French market commercial logo and is in immaculate, pristine NOS condition.
The Ultimate Dutch Pedigree (Philips Heerlen & Amperex Box)
While branded Dario Miniwatt for distribution, this tube features the historical etched production codes on the glass showing the world-famous Δ (Delta) factory code (Δ8B2). This confirms beyond any doubt that it was manufactured in the Netherlands at the legendary Philips elite factory in Heerlen during the 2nd week of February 1968.
This specific vintage 12AX7 tube was preserved and found in an authentic historical Amperex 12AX7A box. In the 1960s, Philips (the parent company of both Amperex and Dario) regularly cross-distributed these premium Heerlen-made tubes across different packaging. The factory production from Heerlen natively met and exceeded the toughest requirements of the premium American "12AX7A" low-noise, low-hum specifications.
The combination of Heerlen's elite manufacturing and its vintage Amperex housing results in a deep soundstage, lush midrange, and dead-silent background noise. This tube displays monumentally strong emissions and exceptionally high gain that vastly exceeds the original factory baseline. It has been thoroughly laboratory-tested on our professional, calibrated Kalibr L3-3 tube tester.

Detailed Test Results (Kalibr L3-3)
Tested under reference conditions: Uh 12.6V / Uc1 -2V / Va 250V
(Factory Spec for 100% brand new tube is Ia = 1.2 mA / S = 1.6 mA/V)
• Anode Current (Ia): 1.64 mA (137.0% of factory spec)
• Transconductance (S): 1.84 mA/V (115.3% of factory spec)
• Anode Current (Ia): 1.74 mA (144.8% of factory spec)
• Transconductance (S): 1.87 mA/V (116.8% of factory spec)
🌟 Note on Outstanding Performance: Measuring at 137% and 144% for anode current, alongside an incredible transconductance tracking tightly at 115.3% / 116.8%, this tube performs at an elite tier. It offers a spectacular reserve of power, pristine symmetry, and exceptional longevity. It is ready to deliver an ultimate upgrade for high-end Hi-Fi phono stages, studio microphones, or boutique vintage guitar preamplifiers.
Structural & Safety Tests Passed
- Insulation test between Cathode (k) and Heater (H): PASSED (No leakage)
- Insulation test between Cathode (k) and Grid 1 (g1): PASSED (No shorts)
- Insulation test between Grid 2 (g2) and Grid 1 (g1): PASSED (No shorts)
About our testing methodology
To provide full transparency, our laboratory testing uses a professional Kalibr L3-3 tube tester. Since this device uses specific internal scales rather than direct mA/V readouts, each value is physically calculated to ensure precision.
- Example of our calculation (Transconductance S):
Using a raw Kalibr reading of 92.2 on a standard scale of 150 with a multiplier of 3:
(92.2 x 3) / 150 = 1.84 mA/V - Percentage vs. Factory Specs:
We then benchmark this result against the factory nominal value for a new tube (e.g., 1.6 mA/V for an ECC83):
(1.84 / 1.6) x 100 = 115.3% of factory specification.
