Heuer Carrera CS3111 Re-Edition – Black Dial – 2020 Service – Original Buckle

For sale is my Heuer Carrera CS3111, the highly sought-after 1996 re-edition of the legendary 1964 Carrera 2447N. This model features the classic 36mm proportions and the historically accurate "Heuer-only" branding. I’ve had this watch since 2020 and it has been a pleasure to own, as for me it is an iconic chronograph. Unfortunately at the time original ‘60’s Carrera’s were just out of my price range, but I liked the fact that this re-edition was so close to the original design and specification. The watch comes on an aftermarket leather rally strap fitted with the original Heuer buckle.

Condition & Service:
The watch is in very good condition with no notable marks or scratches. Most importantly, it benefited from a full mechanical service in 2020 by Genesis Watchmaking (following a previous service in 2018). During the 2020 service, the seals were replaced and a fresh crystal was fitted. The manually wound Lemania 1873 movement, the same legendary base as the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch, is running perfectly and the chronograph resets crisp and straight to zero.
There is one anomaly I need to mention and that relates to the caseback. The engraving states CS3110, which would be the silver faced version. I have heard a number of possible explanations for this. Apparently the CS3110 (silver dial) and CS3111 (black dial) shared the same 36mm stainless steel case. In early production batches, it was not uncommon for TAG Heuer to utilize casebacks with the CS3110 reference for black-dialed units. The other explanation was that it could have been changed when it was previously serviced. Either way it does not detract from the overall condition of the watch, it is just peculiar.
