Stromberg-Carlson Custom 400 Coaxial Wide Range HiFi Vintage 12" Radio Speaker

Nice Stromberg-Carlson Custom 400 Wide Range 12” High Fidelity Speaker.  It is a coaxial unit and the Woofer needs to be re-coned as it is brittle and torn. The woofer and tweeter are permanent magnet units with large Alnico magnets. 

The voice coils of the speaker were tested with an Ohm Meter.  The woofer measures 7.12 Ohms, the tweeter measured 5.37 Ohms.  This was the extent of our testing of this speaker.  The speaker is in good overall physical and cosmetic condition with the exception of the Woofer’s speaker cone. The Woofer has P/N# 155037 marked on it and the coaxial tweeter is marked as P/N# 155045.

On the Internet, people have described this Stromberg Carlson Custom 400 Speaker as a Wide Range, High Fidelity, High Efficiency, (Coaxial 2-Way) Speaker with large Alnico Magnets on both the Woofer and the Tweeter, providing Solid Sound Reproduction across the entire frequency range.  I believe this loud speaker was manufactured in the late 1950’s – early 1960’s. 

Since I have not tested this item besides verifying that the voice coils are not open, the fact that the Woofer’s Speaker cone is torn, as well the age (60+ Years) of this item and per eBay protocols, I must sell it for parts or repairs and as USED, STRICTLY: AS-IS. This item is used and is good overall physical and cosmetic condition except as previously noted in the description. I will package this item carefully in a 16” X 16” X 11” box that weighs about 16 LBS to insure that it arrives in the same physical condition as seen in the pictures.  This Speaker is a fine example of American made High Fidelity equipment. It was built with the state of the art technology of its time and the finest American made parts that were available.
