Rare British-made Corfield Periflex 1 35mm film camera with fixed 45mm f/2.8 lens. Introduced in the early 1950s, the Periflex 1 features a unique periscope-style focusing system and Leica-style screw mount. Compact, mechanically precise, and historically significant, it’s ideal for collectors or analogue enthusiasts seeking a distinctive UK-built rangefinder alternative.

Condition:
Shutter sticks at 1/30th. Some wrinkling to shutter curtain as shown. Periscope focusing mechanism functional. Lens optics clean with minimal internal dust. Aperture blades responsive. Viewfinder clear. Body shows light cosmetic wear consistent with age. Please refer to photos for detailed condition. Servicing recommended due to issues noted.

Manufactured in Wolverhampton, England, the Corfield Periflex 1 was launched in 1953 as a British alternative to German rangefinders. Its periscope focusing system allowed precise manual focus without a coupled rangefinder. The camera uses the Leica thread mount (LTM), making it compatible with a range of vintage lenses. Increasingly rare in working condition, especially with original accessories.

I will carry out a standard set of testing for all equipment I am selling and will highlight any issues found as well as the perceived condition of the item. Not all tests will be appropriate for a specific camera or lens, but the appropriate ones will be carried out.

Most older lenses will have some degree of dust.
Film cameras will not have had any light seals replaced and they will most likely be degraded, for optimum performance they should be replaced.
We will not specifically note individual marks on a piece of equipment, please refer the the photographs.
