This is a Vintage tool with several years worth of life remaining. Because the file surface is difficult to see with the naked eye, I have magnified 1200 x. It is imperative that you polish the pivots before KWM or Bergeon bushings are installed to ensure proper sizing.

Essential for any clockmaker for properly polishing the pivots while the gear is mounted in your lathe, drill,etc. Clock pivot polishing and burnishing are both surface finishing techniques, but they differ in their methods and outcomes.

Polishing involves precision removal of material to create a smooth surface, while burnishing compresses and hardens the material without significant material loss, resulting in a mirror polished appearance and reduced friction.

Pivot Files and Burnishers are used with Bergeon Extra Fine Diamantine Powder or 2,000 Grit Diamond Paste I have listed separately. I do offer Combined shipping and any overage will be refunded.
