This 19th century wooden music box is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and ingenuity. It belonged to my great-grandmother in Antwerp Belgium. The sound is beautiful, and so is the box itself. The top of the lid is decorated with an etched bird motif, and each detail (the metal handle with lion head, the 4 miniature wooden columns on each corner, the interior black-and-white depiction of angels playing music) is intricate and artistic.
Included is a set of 37 metal records, each playing different songs including e.g. Mozart, Wagner, Verdi, Rossini, several mazurkas and waltzes, Christmas songs, etc. The records are contained in a separate simple wooden box with leather handles (and note that the handle came detached from the box in one place - see picture).
Both the box and all the records have been stored indoors in climate-controlled conditions, and as a result are in excellent condition. For serious inquiries, I'm available for a Zoom call so you can see and hear the music box. Price is non-negotiable.
