Pair ALTEC 299-16A Midrange Horn Drivers, Similar To 288-16L,New LASE Diaphragms

Pair Altec 299-16A, High frequency drivers.

Comes with 3 mounting studs for each driver.

These drivers came from a small movie theater, so they were always kept indoors, in a dry environment.

A few minor paint scratches on the front side area, see photos.

The drivers have been tested at 500hz and up to 5khz, at 5 watts with audio oscillator, with a small amplifier, and also tested with music through a 20uf polypropylene coupling capacitor, and sounding very clear, smooth midrange and highs, and extremely efficient!

I recently installed brand new LASE 25885XX diaphragms in both drivers, and the drivers are working perfectly.

The LASE 25885XX diaphragms are an exact copy of the original altec diaphragm design, using the same diaphragm frame, but the diaphragm aluminum of the LASE diaphragms are similar to the 288 aluminum material, therefore making these drivers a closer match to the 288-16L drivers.

My listening test with these drivers, with the ZXPC diaphragms, they sound wonderful, very smooth and clear midrange and highs, with the listing test done with single ended 300B tube amplifiers.

I have one more pair 299-16A, also with new ZXPC diaphragms.
