note on the third party batteries:
Original batteries BP-DC1 / Panasonic CGR S602 are hard to source and expensive.
Compatible replacements available. With the compatible batteries I bought, the battery casing on at least one was out of spec. and a bit loose which may cause the battery to loose contact. solved by using a small plastic shim which ensures the battery is seated firmer. Seems this is a known issue on some batches of these replacement batteries.
