Nakamichi DR-3 Cassette Deck. 1 Owner. Never Stored Little Use. Immaculate. EX+.

Reluctantly selling my deck, bought new in 1992, and kept solely in my music room, lined up with all my analogue equipment, never stacked, never stored, and with an immaculate top, no marks, pristine fascia, and simply a time-warp in looks, and performance. This is in pristine, immaculate condition, and a total Ex+.

I was a recording engineer from 1988 until the mid 90s, and we always used Nakamichi for cassette work, and of course the reel-to-reels were Revox. This was mine, bought new, and at home. I have only used it sparingly, as I had other Nakamichi decks, including the big brother DR-1 and the elder sister DR-2. This, was bought as a back up, being two heads, but I believe it sounds as good as the more expensive two.

I never, actually, used this to record, and only used it for the pre-recorded few tapes I owned, when vinyl was ceasing. So, head wise, the record is as new, and even the playback is with little use.

I have, however, changed the belt for the new owner, so this will last for another 20 years, and have demagnetised, and generally checked all over. It is as if it had just been un-boxed. 

This cost a whopping £350 back then, which equates to around £1,000 today, and these were, in case you don't know, the last of the fully Japanese decks from Nakamichi. The DR-range was the last range, with the new launch in 2002, but that was the DR-8 and DR-10, so this lot (DR-1, DR-2, DR-3) were the ones to have, as, sadly, the end was nigh for cassette with the latter range, and the awful rise of CD.

This is rare, as it is one owner, and  it is special. Hence I am asking more than the usual junk here, that dealers trade, without provenance. Any questions, please ask.
