This auction is for a recapped and fully working Sega Game Gear with a new LCD screen installed. The Game Gear has been carefully cleaned, polished and restored to as close to new condition as possible. Additionally, included with this lot, is a USB-C to Game Gear compatible power supply and cable setup as well as an original cleaned and tested copy of Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
New LCD Screen:
- The new screen provides a brightly lit, colorful, high refresh rate LCD screen with great viewing angles. This enhances the overall sharpness of your Game Gear games as well as provides for sharp display of games that run in Sega Master System resolution mode. Your SMS and Game Gear games will look great!
- Additionally, the new LCD screen provides easy to use button combinations so you can quickly and intuitively make changes to your Game Gear's visuals. Also, just FYI instructions will be included with your Game Gear covering all of the different options and how to access them.
- The new LCD screen offers 3 different image aspect ratio modes including scanline variants of each aspect ratio. So if you like scanlines or you don't you are covered.
- The new LCD screen also provides 8 different color modes. These different color modes can help people with color blindness to better play Game Gear games that have problematic color palettes.
- Ultra low power LCD screen lowers the Game Gear's power draw from about 0.3 amps to around 0.13 amps this makes a huge difference in battery life. Truly awesome!
Original Shell:
- Was fully disassembled and then painstakingly cleaned and polished.
- Comes complete with clean battery contacts so no worn out corroded contacts to worry about.
- Shell has also been treated with a UV coating that will help protect your Game Gear from future sun damage.
Buttons/Membranes:
- Buttons and membranes have been cleaned or replaced to give you tight accurate control.
New Ceramic, Tantalum and Polymer Capacitors:
- New installed ceramic, tantalum and polymer capacitors lack the 15 to 20 year life span issues of the original electrolytic Game Gear capacitors.
- The capacitors chosen are of the "solid" variety so they can't leak electrolyte and damage your Game Gear. So you can rest assured that your Game Gear will keep working well into the future.
Recapped Sound Board:
- The Sound Board has been recapped with tantalum capacitors for the best possible audio quality and longevity.
- Tantalum capacitors were used to avoid the piezoelectric effect of ceramic capacitors, which are commonly used to recap the Sound Board, so you can enjoy some sweet nostalgic Game Gear audio without modern capacitor generated interference.
Recapped Power Board:
- Old Power Board capacitors have been replaced with high quality brand new polymer electrolytic capacitors.
- Usage of the Game Gears original Power Board maintains compatibility with all original US Game Gear power supplies.
USB-C to Game Gear Compatible Power Supply and Cable Setup:
- New USB-C Power Delivery to Game Gear power cable provides the power your Game Gear needs with or without the added weight of AA batteries installed. Additionally, this cable works great with other portable and not so portable Sega consoles, so if you have for example a Sega Genesis Nomad and your Game Gear along on a trip you can power them both with the same cable.
- Also, works great with USB-C Power Delivery compatible power banks for the ultimate in portability and run time.
