Based on PRSGuitars' PRSSEPaul'sGuitar and the Custom24-08 Limited Edition used by KANAMI, guitarist of the Japanese rock band BAND-MAID, the PRS SE Rock Lady Limited Edition is a model born as an homage to the guitar used by the protagonist, Ririsa Suzunomiya, in the anime "Rock is a Lady's Pastime."
The TCI S treble and bass pickups installed in this model were designed by Paul Reed Smith, the founder of PRSGuitars, and embody the know-how that PRS has cultivated over many years in pickup development. Furthermore, by combining a 3-way toggle switch and two mini toggle switches for coil tapping, it achieves eight diverse sound variations that can accommodate a wide range of genres, from edgy, sparkling single-coil sounds to thick, warm tones reminiscent of soapbar pickups.
The bridge features a PRS original design brass insert stoptail, contributing to a powerful and harmonically rich sound. In terms of design, it faithfully reproduces Ririsa's guitar as closely as possible, featuring a pearl pink body top, black headstock, natural body back, and specially prepared purple-toned pickup bobbins for this model.
Furthermore, unlike the model appearing in the anime, the fretboard features PRS's trademark bird inlays. As an homage to the work, the truss rod cover is adorned with a lily motif. The theme song for the anime "Rock wa Shukujo no Tashikomi de Shite" was written by BAND-MAID, the group to which KANAMI belongs. Based on the manga of the same name, the anime uses motion capture technology to digitize KANAMI's energetic playing style, directly reproducing her movements in the story. The realistic and immersive performance scenes have garnered high praise from many music and anime fans.
