A pair of extremely rare Philips 9801-50 speakers, made in Netherlands in the 1950's (to the best of my knowledge).
Even most vintage speaker enthusiasts (including Philips driver fans) do not know about these speakers, because they are so rare.
These speakers almost never come up for sale, and if they do, the sale is normally for a single speaker.
These speakers sound amazing with low-power single ended triode tube amplifiers or low-power OTL tube amplifiers. The sound is very focused with extremely articulate midrange with substantial weight. On subjective listening, both high frequency and low frequency are satisfying especially on acoustic music. These can definitely be enjoyed as single-driver full range speakers.

- Bakelite diffusers (Whizzers) for high frequency
This pair is just about perfectly matched cosmetically, electrically, and sonically.
The voice coil resistances are a matched 20.7 ohm for both speakers (see photos), making these ~50 Ohm impedance drivers.
These speakers originally come with impedance matching transformers that steps down the impedance to 16 ohms, which are not included in this sale.
Instead, I am including a pair of extreme high quality 24-ohm 10W Duelund Silver/Graphite CAST resistors ($24.75 each), which can be connected in parallel to the speaker terminals.
After installing the resistors across the speakers terminals, the resulting resistances are 11.3 and 11.2 Ohms for the two speakers, effectively making these 16-ohm impedance drivers that are friendly to most low-power tube amplifiers. The sound quality mentioned above describe the speakers with these parallel resistors.
Lastly, these speakers do not have mounting holes in the speaker basket, and they require matching mounting brackets. In this sale, I am including 8 Philips mounting brackets for enclosure mounting.
