Stanley Bailey No10 1/4 Carriage Makers plane with adjustable handles 1919-1924 era SW

4-11-05 PAT pertains to the tote and knob adjustment mech. Which would suggest (based on 15yr limit) this soul could be a late Type 11 or and early Type 12.

2 irons supplied. What appears to be original SW iron with type 12 style SW logo – very short on life at the sharp end. The second iron is MADE in ENGLAND but it functions just as well as its predecessor.

Lever cap is just beautiful, in great condition. Snaps right into place. Stanley didn't introduce the logo on the lever cap until 1925.

The soul has had an historical repair to both cheeks. The braising has been done to a great standard and is very clean. The soul is flat and true as it would have been from factory.

Due to this repair work the japanning was none existent. It seemed on fitting to completely restore this amazing example of a Stanley plane. Despite the battle wound, the plane functions as designed, takes wonderful shavings.

The front knob looks and functions well. I have repaired the tote by adding a new horn section from Brazilian Rosewood. Shaped by hand and refinished.

All parts have been cleaned, oiled and waxed. Japanning has been left as found.

Cheeks have been cleaned and soul lightly lapped to check flatness. This plane functions brilliantly, taking beautiful shavings.

Other normal signs of wear on parts, due to age of plane.
