About This Item
The Pioneer M-90a is a stereo power amplifier manufactured by Pioneer in Japan, released in 1988 as the second-generation, refined version of the M-90, designed as the power amplifier counterpart to the C-90a control amplifier. It is rated at 200 watts per channel into 8 ohms with a dynamic power of up to 750 watts into 2 ohms, using a four-parallel push-pull output stage of Pc = 130 W power transistors to achieve a large current supply capability of 47 amperes. The amplifier features Pioneer's Non-Switching circuit, which uses variable bias control to keep the output transistors from ever switching fully off, eliminating switching distortion in principle for low-distortion sound. Its power supply is fully independent for the left and right channels, with two large dedicated power transformers and 10,000 uF x 2 resin-coated electrolytic capacitors per channel, while a direct construction with CD Direct and Line Direct inputs minimizes the signal path for maximum signal purity.
