BEAUTIFUL VICTORIAN BINDING FOR THIS ICONIC CLASSIC FIRST PUBLISHED IN 1678.
This copy was published some time in either the late 1800s or early 1900s. There is no date found in the book. Worldcat lists three copies, one dated 1878? (and this speculated year with the "?" was used by the only other online copy that claims to be Baker & Taylor, although that copy doesn't have boards or even the Baker & Taylor title page), and the other two dated 19--. It is in EXCELLENT CONDITION. It is a small book measuring 6.2" by 4.5". Clean boards with what feels like vellum spine and partial front board, with the spine slightly darkened and the gilt titling rubbed. The front and back endpapers are darkened/stained - the front looks like something was stored there and there was a private library stamp and an inked previous owner name on the front endpaper. The back endpapers are more uniformly darkened. None of the other pages in the book were similarly darkened. The page tops are gilt, and there are very many uncut pages. There are a few small tears on the pages - they are very delicate. One is shown in the listing photo. 133 very clean pages.
