You are buying one or more PAIRS of Ultronic or Burroughs B-7971 Nixie Tubes, tested to work, with sockets.

These giant Nixie tubes were used as data readouts on Burroughs computers in the early1960's. Each tube measures about 4" tall and can display all the letters A-Z, digits 0-9, and some special symbols. They produce bright characters readable at considerable distance and are ideal for Nixie clocks and other projects.

I have eight of these tubes. They have all been tested to work (see photos). All segments light properly on every tube when powered by a 170 volt DC power supply. Each tube comes with a socket (see photo 11). Each buyer will also be provided with one copy of the B-7971 data sheet (last photo).

Tubes are as shown in photos 1 through 8. Photos 9 and 10 show one unlit tube as an example. Tube numbers 1-6 and 8 are marked "Ultronic." Tube #7 is marked only "Burroughs." Sockets vary slightly (see photo 11) and all have some damage around the mounting holes. My high voltage power supply is not included in the sale.

Tubes are being sold in pairs only. There is a quantity discount in effect to encourage buying more than one pair. (The most commonly needed number for Nixie clocks is four tubes.) Per pair prices will be lower if you buy more than one set of two tubes. The last buyer will get my test socket with its thirteen 10K ohm resistors; earlier buyers can choose any other socket(s).

Buyers may ask for specific tubes by number and for sockets by location(s) in the photo. If I still have the ones you want, you'll get them. If not you can either accept others in place of the ones you asked for or request that the sale be cancelled.

Tubes will be carefully packed for shipping, but I cannot guarantee that you won't break one while preparing it for use. So there are no returns or refunds. Tubes are marked with hidden codes to prevent fraud.

These are the only B-7971 Nixie tubes I have. When they are gone they are gone.

I don't have a lot of silly rules for buyers: Pay for your item and I'll send it you. I've been a buyer and a seller on eBay for more than 25 years and have a near perfect feedback record. I'll trust you and you can trust me to do right.

Please use the eBay shipping calculator to estimate your shipping cost inside the USA. Shipping cost will be partially refunded after shipping for purchases of multiple pairs of tubes.

Why don't I offer free shipping? There's no such thing as "free" shipping. Sellers have to recover the cost of shipping. When "free" shipping is offered the seller has buried the average cost of shipping the item in the price. This means that buyers who are far away and would have to pay more for shipping get a discount while buyers who are close to the seller and would pay less are overcharged. This is especially true for large or heavy items. I don't think this is fair, so I don't offer free shipping.
