This item is an antique Swiss cylinder music box, similar to those produced by manufacturers like Paillard in the late 19th century.
It features intricate wood inlay (marquetry) on the lid and front panel, showcasing floral and bird motifs. In my personal collection since 1990. The mechanism typically consists of a metal cylinder with pins that pluck a tuned metal comb to produce music.
