상품 설명
Untethered, Right Out of 1989
Before wireless controllers were a checkbox feature, NEC built one for the PC Engine. The PI-PD11 Cordless Multitap Set let four-plus players pile onto a Hu-Card without tripping over a snake's nest of cables. This one is boxed with the receiver and three cordless pads, which is two more pads than the set originally shipped with.
What It Is
NEC PI-PD11 Cordless Multitap Set for the PC Engine. The set pairs an infrared receiver unit that plugs into the console's PAD port with cordless pads that talk to it from across the room. Each pad has a 1-5 channel selector, SELECT/RUN, and the standard PC Engine I and II face buttons in NEC's signature purple. Original Japanese-market release from Nippon Electric Home Electronics. The retail box originally included one receiver and one pad - this listing includes two additional cordless pads, bringing the total to three.
What Is Included
- Original PI-PD11 outer box with instructions printed on the back
- Inner cardboard tray
- Cordless receiver unit with attached cable
- Three (3) NEC Cordless Pads
Why It Matters
The PI-PD11 is a piece of console history - one of the earliest official wireless controller solutions for a home gaming platform, and one of the more obscure PC Engine peripherals on the secondary market. Complete boxed sets in collector-grade shape don't surface often, and finding one with extra cordless pads already paired-down is rarer still. Bomberman party nights become a lot less load-bearing on your AV shelf with three wireless pads in play.
Condition
Never used (WAS tested). Was a display piece only. The outer box shows moderate handling wear - light edge wear and corner softening on the front panel, scuffing along the top and bottom flap seams, and minor surface marks on the back. The Japanese instructional artwork on the back of the box is intact and legible. The inner cardboard tray shows tape residue across the pad cutout and around the receiver well, with light age-toning of the kraft cardboard. The receiver unit shell is clean and unmarked with the original attached cable coiled and intact. All three cordless pads have clean shells, intact directional pads, and crisp purple face buttons. Two of the three pads carry their original serial number stickers on the back (2Z184194A and 2Y014964A); the third pad's serial sticker is absent.
