Vintage Catholic Last Rites Sick Call Set Boxed Crucifix Candlesticks

Vintage boxed Catholic last rites set, also traditionally known as a sick call set, comprising a freestanding crucifix and an assortment of silver-coloured devotional fittings arranged within a fitted presentation box.

The central crucifix features a raised silver-coloured figure of Jesus Christ mounted against dark cross panels, with an INRI scroll above. Its lower section fits into the large stepped base, allowing the crucifix to stand upright for devotional or display use.

The additional pieces include:

• Two matching stepped candle holders
• Two small chalice-shaped vessels
• One curved silver-coloured metal fitting
• Original-style fitted presentation box

The precise original purpose of each loose component has not been independently confirmed.

Sets of this type were traditionally kept in Catholic homes so that a temporary devotional setting could be prepared when a priest attended a person who was seriously ill, housebound or receiving the sacraments.

Condition:
Fair vintage condition overall, with signs of age, use and storage including surface scratches, rubbing, tarnishing, marks and general wear to the metal fittings and presentation box.

The lower section of the crucifix has previously been reinforced or repaired with clear tape. This repair is visible and should be considered before purchase.

The set appears to have space for an additional component which is no longer present. It has not been confirmed whether this was originally a tray, plate or another devotional fitting. The set is therefore sold as incomplete, with only the contents shown and described included.
