Very Rare Telefunken ELA L6 Blue Frame Salmon (red) perforated nipple - grail

Considered one of the "holy grail" of vintage audio, these drivers hail from the 1940s and 50s—the golden era of German speakers. Built during a time when Telefunken spared no expense on design, materials, and craftsmanship, this specific combination of minimalist blue frame, magnet, nipple shaped perforated dust cover, rare paper formulation represents the absolute pinnacle (la creme de la creme) of German full-range design.  Because they were engineered before the era of heavy rock or compressed digital formats, they are a match made in heaven for acoustic, jazz, and vocal-centric music.

Design & Aesthetics

• Bauhaus Minimalism: Featuring a striking red-and-blue frame, the sleek, aerodynamic minimalist design allows the speaker cone to breathe freely as it moves forward and backward.

The Legendary Furry Paper Cone

This is arguably one of the most unique paper cones ever produced (possibly a 2 layer paper cone construction: bottom is dark charcoal colored, top is a golden furry long fiber animal and plant combination this is visible based upon the macro photos listed).

• Old-Growth Wood & Animal Fibers: Telefunken utilized long-fiber wood pulp from old-growth forests combined with long-fiber animal fur/hair, air-dried instead of being pressed under heat like modern cones.
• Organic & Fatigue-Free: The uncompressed, intertwined long fibers create an incredibly lightweight yet rigid cone. The "hairs" help dampen internal resonances, eliminating the harsh "ringing" or "shoutiness" common in modern, stiffer materials.
• Nipple-Shaped Dust Cap: One of the earliest production runs featuring this specific voice coil cover. The felt-like cap features a precise porosity and perforations designed to cool the voice coil while acting as a seamless high-frequency resonator—avoiding the honkiness typical of later whizzer cones.  It is one of the earliest speaker makers using this technique.  Arguably the first to use it effectively.  So it breaks new ground historically.

Condition & Notes

• Aged to Perfection: Vintage paper cones age like fine wine. Eighty years of environmental settling has allowed the fibers to mature into a sound quality that is physically impossible to replicate today, even if you had the original raw ingredients.
• Cosmetic Note: There are minor surface scuffs and a nick on the outer surround of one speaker. These are purely cosmetic, do not affect the structural integrity, and have zero impact on the flawless acoustic performance. They can easily be repaired invisibly using lightweight Kozo paper and archival adhesive if desired (left to the buyer's discretion).
