Antique (1870) Swiss Music Box by P.V.F. has 6 INTERCHANGEABLE cylinders 36 Airs

A fabulous piece of Victorian Technology.

There are 36 tunes available to be played on 6 interchangeable cylinders.

These cylinders are stored in the bottom drawer and can quickly be inserted into the mechanism for playing.

A huge variety of tunes and popular songs, including Gilbert and Sullivan, and classical pieces are available. See the card sheet on the inside of the lid for the list.

The Music Box was made in the 1870s by PVF (Paillard Vaucher Fils) who were one of the most respected Swiss makers.

It works well and has a rich tone on playing.

The wooden case has survived its 150 years very well and is in good original condition. It has not had excessive restoration. 

The inside is the usual satin black and the outside is veneered in what was then considered to be very exotic Amboyna wood.

There are some small holes in the lid and side from extinct woodworm (see picture 7) but these bear testament to its history and do not significant detract from it appearance.
