Illinois 16s 21 Jewel Bunn Special Type III 60 Hour Pocket watch. The movement serial number is 5114542 - model 14, Grade Bunn Special manufactured in 1928. The movement is still running and keeping good time 98 years after manufacture!
The watch case is a beautiful 25 Year Yellow Gold Filled J. Boss case from the Keystone Watch Case Company. The front bezel and rear lid both screw closed snugly. The case is in excellent condition, with even wear consistent with light use during the life of the watch. There is no wear-through or brass showing on the case, there is a tiny screw on the pendant, dont know why. Overall, this is a very nice case for a very nice movement.
The crystal is a new glass crystal from White's Crystals. The case has the original Gold Filled crown and bow, both in excellent condition.
The white porcelain enamel dial has black numerals and bold red 5-minute markers. This dial is in excellent condition, one tiny hairline crack from the center hole to 10:00. The purple steel RR spade style hands are in excellent shape, the second hand is blue.
The mechanical movement is 21 jewels, the balance wheel has good motion, and the movement has been cleaned and is in good running order. This movement received a new alloy mainspring as part of the service. This Bunn Special is a lovely Rail Road grade movement, with gold plated gears, gold jewel settings and balance weights. It is marked SIXTY HOUR.
This watch is a lever
set movement. To set the time, unscrew the
front bezel, use your fingernail to gently pull out the setting lever
(at 2:00) and then use the crown to set the time. Push the setting lever
back in, close the front bezel, and then use the crown to wind the
watch. Check the picture showing the lever pulled out.
The
watch has been recently serviced, is running and keeps time to within a
few minutes each day. These old pocket watches make fun gifts for
friends and family.

will start up with a wind of the mainspring and a twist to get the
balance started. Once in a while the watch may get a knock in shipment
such that the movement will not start up. If that happens, please let me
